Our missions statement is: To enhance the quality of life of every person and visitor in Cherokee County, Oklahoma, by receiving and processing 9-1-1 emergency calls and non-emergency calls and by dispatching Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Service units, in a prompt, efficient, courteous and professional manner, to help save lives, protect property, and assist the public and public safety agencies; making Cherokee County a safer community in which to live, work and visit.
Public Safety Communications is many things-
- An answering point for 911 calls.
- An answering point for non 911 calls.
- Police, Fire, Emergency Medical Dispatch and Emergency Medical Helicopter Dispatch.
- Pre-arrival medical instructions while an ambulance is responding, providing "zero-minute" rescue advice.
- Radio service for Tahlequah, Hulbert and Cherokee County , plus several neighboring cities and agencies, encompassing 751 square miles and over 42,000 people.
- Public education to school children and adult groups on proper use of 911.

Above all, Public Safety Communications is a team of dedicated individuals, ready to serve the public, 24 hours a day, every day of the year. The phones ring over 50,000 times a year at our center; our goal is to handle each and every call as rapidly and accurately as possible.
