From all of us here at Cherokee County 911 Public Safety Communications, welcome to our website. We thank you for taking the time to learn more about our department and its people. We strive to provide the highest possible quality of communications services for the agencies serving the citizens of Cherokee County.  Our missions statement is: To enhance the quality of life of every person and visitor in Cherokee County, Oklahoma, by receiving and processing 9-1-1 emergency calls and non-emergency calls and by dispatching Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Service units, in a prompt, efficient, courteous and professional manner, to help save lives, protect property, and assist the public and public safety agencies; making Cherokee County a safer community in which to live, work and visit.

Public Safety Communications is many things-

-An answering point for 911 calls.

-An answering point for non 911 calls.

-Police, Fire, Emergency Medical Dispatch and  Emergency Medical Helicopter Dispatch.

-Pre-arrival medical instructions while an ambulance is responding, providing “zero-minute” rescue advice.

-Radio service for Tahlequah, Hulbert and Cherokee County , plus several neighboring cities and agencies, encompassing 751 square miles and over 42,000 people.

-Public education to school children and adult groups on proper use of 911.

-Addressing and G.I.S. Coordination among State and Local agencies.

Above all, Public Safety Communications is a team of dedicated individuals, ready to serve the public, 24 hours a day, every day of the year. The phones ring over 50,000 times a year at our center; our goal is to handle each and every call as rapidly and accurately as possible.
